Look Who's Two!

Lyndie turned 2 years old this last week. The last year seemed to really fly by. She is learning so much everyday, I am constantly amazed at the things she picks up on.

Some things about Lyndie:
* Lyndie loves to watch TV/Videos/Clips of cartoons on YouTube with mom and play computer games. She'll ask for Wii Tennis and MarioKart, but MarioKart is only at Grandma Lorna's and usually the big kids are playing. On the flip side of that, she is VERY active. It seems like she has always has a plan going and will go from one thing to the next, to the next, to the next. Sometimes she just says, "Lyndie run around" and will literally just run around. She also loves music and will sit so still to listen to a song or will play a song from a toy in her room and dance. She especially loves to do this while wearing her "pretty skirt". Oh, and she loves bubbles, if she can do it herself.

* Lyndie is a pretty good talker for her age and puts many words together at a time and has started adding in words like "a" or "the" into sentences. Even though she can communicate what she wants pretty well, she is very determined to still get it and has the typical two year old tantrums if her plan doesn't enfold as she has envisioned it.

* Lyndie also loves being outside and playing with friends. This winter has been hard for both of those things since the cold yucky air makes it hard to get out and lots of runny noses makes it hard to get together with friends. She has about 6 or so friends in the neighborhood that she will ask for by name to play. She will say "Mom, call "friends name" play. She has two friends next door that are 1 year older and almost 3 years older than her; they have a great time together, especially for spur of the moment play dates. Not to mention they are some of her only friends that are girls since all the kids born in the neighborhood her age are boys.

* Lyndie finally made it on the charts for weight!! She is 10% for weight and 90% for height at 23 lbs and almost 35 inches long.

* Some of that weight gain is probably attributable to the fact that she loves candy. Ever since Halloween it seems like she just can't get enough candy and asks for it daily. (Which doesn't mean she gets it daily). She tried a Slurpee in the last few months and loves them. Her hands got so cold because she wouldn't let it go and will ask for them. She also loves noodles, lunch meat, carrots with dipping sauce, peas, apple slices, cheese, french fries, hot dogs and chicken nuggets. Oh, and anything with butter, cream cheese or the color pink. She knows at Target she gets samples and has even asked me for samples for lunch.

* She knows she also gets a balloon at Roberts craft store and suckers at the bank. If we drive past any of the above locations she will ask for those free items whether or not we are in the store or going there.

* For Lyndie's birthday we stayed home for the morning because she really hates getting in the car these days. In the afternoon we went to Discovery Gateway, Ben and Jerry's for ice cream and how could I resist stopping for an ICEE at Target when she started asking when she could see Target from the freeway. We had a family dinner (the three of us) and grandparents over for cake, ice cream and presents. I attempted to make a bubble cake for Lyndie with gelatin bubbles and it was kinda fun to learn to do that. She cared more that the frosting was pink.
